"At the Shakes, director Patrick Flick has given his two actors plenty to do. The day-to-day operations of being an artist — stretching canvases, mixing paint, assembling frames — take on a deeper meaning, too: The dual lives we humans try to lead as we perform mundane chores to support ourselves while dreaming of lofty ideals and struggling to express ourselves on a higher plane."

"Director Patrick Flick has to work to make his characters stand out among all the theatrical frills and they do."

    The Exit Interview

    By William Missouri Downs

    Orlando Shakespeare Theater, 2012

"Making its world premiere in a fascinating Orlando Shakespeare Theater production, the play tackles big issues such as faith and the nature of humanity with edgy verve.  Director Patrick Flick guides the audience through the silly and the serious with a sure hand.

    --Matt Palm, Orlando Sentinel

"Patrick Flick has done a bang-up job of wrangling the play's almost farcically disparate performance elements – which include numerous flashbacks, fantasy sequences and even product-placement pitches – into a cohesive, hilarious whole."

    --Steve Schneider, Orlando Weekly

    Women Playing Hamlet
    By William Missouri Downs

    Gamut Theatre/Harrisburg Shakespeare, 2015

"Gamut's production of "Women Playing Hamlet" is directed by Patrick Flick, a four-time Emmy winner who is executive director of The Shakespeare Theatre Association. He and his cast find exactly the right touch, a combination of light comedy, obsessive introspection, history lesson, bad knock-knock jokes and over-the-top acting that are closer to Shakespeare than one might suspect."
