Keynote Speakers
These fantastic artists were just a few of the Keynote Speakers to either address or perform at PlayFest, The Harriett Lake Festival of New Plays.
They include Philip Seymour Hoffman, Olympia Dukakis, Robert Schenkkan, Theresa Rebeck, John Pielmeier, and Jeffrey Hatcher.

The Play Readings
Every year several plays were selected for readings to take place over the course of PlayFest. Playwrights were paid a stipend, flown into Orlando, housed, given a cast of professional actors. and a director to work with. They were given the opportunity to work on their scripts if they chose, or simply reflect upon the work they had already done.

Playwrights Panels
These are panels that happened at PlayFest between 2006 and 2008. A number of different topics were discussed including, "What is the Role of the Director in New Play Development," and "What is the Role of the Actor in New Play Development?"
Some of the folks you'll see in attendance are Gary Garrison and Tari Stratton of the Dramatists Guild, Playwrights John Pielmeier, Ian August and Kathleen Cahill (among others). You'll also find actors, directors and members of the American Theatre Critics Association in these photos.

Play in a Day
It just wasn't PlayFest with Play in a Day. Play in a Day is just what it sounds like. Writers, Directors and actors are brought together 24 hours before their fully written, rehearsed and memorized 10 minute play is presented in a 325 theatre.
Special Thanks to Beth Marshall for Producing Play in a Day for me for many years, and to David Lee for being the Play in a Day Coordinator as well.
Also a BIG Thank you to all of the Orlando artists who put their time into this every year. Putting this gallery together has been a happy journey down Memory Lane!
